CDTA Bus Passes

Provide transportation for housing program clients. Collect coins for CDTA bus rides.

Proceeds go towards purchasing CDTA bus passes for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness. The passes are used for travel to job interviews, medical appointments and house hunting.  Please contact sandlernea@aol.com to receive a CDTA bus bank.

Household Gift Box

Support local shelters’ housing programs with 100 household gift boxes.

Grassroot Givers will be sponsoring approximately 100 household gift boxes to support homeless shelters in the Capital District. Sponsor a box or donate one item. Make it a family project, partner with your coworkers, or plan it with your book group! Household gift boxes include: Fleece blanket, family sized shampoo, soap, package of razors, deodorant, toothpaste, dish detergent, toilet paper and paper towels. Pillowcase Challenge

Make a pillowcase, make a difference.

A homemade pillowcase can provide comfort to a veteran, refugee family or a child living in a shelter.  Join with Log Cabin Fabrics in the 1,000,000 Pillowcase Challenge to make pillowcases for local families in need. Local groups receiving the pillowcases include Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless Housing Program, Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement Program and Albany Housing Coalition Homeless Veterans Program.

Also needed: Like-new

  • Sheets
  • Quilts
  • Blankets
  • Pillows

$500 Stewart’s Holiday Match

Grassroot Givers received $500 from Stewart’s Holiday Match to directly support children living in local shelters and housing programs.  Some of the programs to benefit from this grant include St. Catherine’s Marillac Family Shelter, Refugee Resettlement Programs and the Sheridan Hollow Ice Cream in the Park Program

Thank You to The Academy of the Holy Names SADD Chapter

Thank you Academy of the Holy Names!

The Academy of the Holy Names SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving) chapter, in partnership with Grassroot Givers organized a collection drive to provide comfort kits of toiletries and other supplies for boys and girls in the care of the Albany County Department of Children, Youth and Families.  Over 1,ooo items were collected and over 80 comfort kits were filled and delivered.
