Donation Stations / Volunteer Opportunities

A Day of Simple Giving, November 20, 2010, from 10:00am-2:00pm, at St Sophia’s Church.

  • organizing a collection drive for a donation station; or
  • volunteering at the event.

Your group can also ‘sponsor’ a donation station. This consists of:

  1. Running the table
  2. Collecting the items needed
  3. Organizing the station, and
  4. Manning the table.

What sorts of Donation Stations will there be?

There are many different donation stations. Here is a complete listing:

Donation Station Description Collection Drive – supplies needed Volunteer support needed to run table and assist event participants
‘Soup in a Jar’ Layer dry soup ingredients in a jar to donate to local food pantries. White rice, lentils, barley, bouillon granules, parsley, green peas, onion flakes, bay leaf, wide mouth canning jars, rubber bands, decorative fabric. Day of Event:  organize and set up table; assist in assembling layered soup in a jar, deliver items to local food pantries
Cookie Baking Fresh baked and decorated cookies for community meals Butter, eggs, vanilla, flour, salt, white sugar, confectionary sugar, food coloring Day of Event: assist in making cookie dough and baking and decorating cookies; deliver cookies to community  meals
Bouncing Balls Create a fun toy for inner city afterschool programs 11 inch balloons, scissors, funnels, rice Day of Event:  organize and set up table; help assemble balls
Centerpieces Create Thanksgiving centerpieces for Equinox Dinner Various recycled items such as nuts, pinecones, acorns Day of Event:  assist with crafting centerpieces; deliver to Equinox
Household/Toiletry
Gift Bags
Assemble gift bags for shelters Laundry/Dish detergent, shampoo, razors and deodorant, paper products Day of Event: assemble gift bags for local shelters
CDTA Bus Tokens CDTA bus passes, used for medical appointments,  job interviews, housing search Collect coins in CDTA-provided cardboard banks Day of Event:  Drop off coins at our CDTA station;
Girls’ Kits Create beauty kit for teenage girls Nail polish, polish remover, emery boards, hand lotion, lip gloss Day of Event:  Assemble beauty kits

No donations are too small.
