Mission FAQs

Q: What do you mean by supplies and material resources for those in need?

A: We collect the following:
* Household items, such as: blankets, sheets, pillowcases, small household appliances and electronics (alarm clock, toaster, etc.)
* Clothing: Adult and Children’s
* Art and crafts supplies: paper, paint, crayons, glue
* Small toys and games
* Toiletries: shampoo, soap, razors, deodorant, etc.
* Household cleaning items: laundry detergent, Comet, floor and toilet cleaners, etc

We accept new or like-new items.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept furniture, large appliances (refrigerator, stove, etc.), old books,  and vintage clothing.  Please feel free to contact us and we will try to connect you with an organization who accepts these items.

Q: Who receives donations from Grassroot Givers?

A: Donations are delivered to many individuals & families in the Capital District area in need of support.

Some of the nonprofit organizations who receive donations from Grassroot Givers include:
* Aids Council of Northeastern NY
* Albany Boys & Girls Club
* Albany Damien Center
* Albany Housing Coalition Serving Homeless Veterans
* Bethlehem Children’s School Greenhouse Program
* Bethlehem Food Pantry
* Bright Red Bookshelf Community Literacy Program
* Capital City Rescue Mission
* Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement Program
* Focus Food Pantries of the Capital District
* Good Samaritan Lutheran Apartment Resident
* Habitat for Humanity
* Healthy Families Albany County
* Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless

Many of these organizations have several programs and will receive multiple donations.

Q: Why Are Grassroot Givers programs so successful?

A: Grassroot Givers receives community support from local individuals, families, youth groups, religious organizations and small businesses.

Q: Where do you store all of the items donated?

A: Because the needs in our local community are so great, we continually collect and share resources. Donations are collected and go directly to individuals or nonprofit organizations in the Capital Region.
